Introduction.

Email automation is an amazing tool to have when you own or manage a blog, website or an online or traditional business.

With an email automation you can free up so much time while operating your business. They work for any online business model that you may be using.

If you have never used an email autoresponder before, you should keep reading and learn about all the benefits they offer.

And if you already use one I encourage you to keep reading as well, you may learn something new!

What is Email Automation?

Your first question may be what is email automation? Luckily this question has an easy answer.

Would you like to write a list of emails that can be sent on a schedule, to specific lists, or specific customers or clients?

Good news because this can all be achieved with an email automation! You do this with an email autoresponder platform. This is a program that lets you automate your emails and categorize them to suit your needs.

They let you write a list of emails to be made into a campaign, broadcasts, and blog broadcasts. And these can be sent automatically and on a custom schedule.

Also, you don’t have to personally write all the emails yourself, you can use templates that you can edit to fit you and your needs.

First Steps.

When you first start using an autoresponder, there are some easy steps you will want to take.

These will help you with starting successful email campaigns and broadcasts. Plus make it easier down the road when you have large email lists.

Automated Email Welcome Series.

You will need a clear vision of what kind of emails you will want to send. It will be easy to get started by creating a welcome email series for your list(s) of clients, subscribers or customers. From there you can follow that with campaigns and broadcasts.

Writing a welcome series is really easy. You can use a welcome series template and edit it to your liking and your needs. These templates usually give you about 3-4 days’ worth of emails.

Because it’s a welcome series you don’t want it to be too long, a few days is perfect. In it you should be thanking and welcoming your customers, clients or subscribers to your businesses, website or blog.

After your first welcome email, have it followed by emails that help build a relationship with them to show they can trust you and your content.

Be personable and authentic, this helps the readers of your emails know they are reading content that has value.

Automated Email Campaigns.

Once you have created your welcome series you should set up a campaign for your email list. This is where you can write as many emails as you want. You can write enough to be sent out for a week, month or months.

The great thing about campaigns is you can write emails that follow a main theme and help promote it. Because these emails should be following a main theme, you will want to keep the content relevant throughout the emails.

For example: You may create a campaign on how to write emails. Day one can be about the structure of emails. Day two will be about good practices. And day three will be about how to add files or documents in emails.

So here you have three emails that you can have scheduled to be sent out over the next three days. Because you are using a campaign you can add a timer between emails. For this example we would set our timer for 24 hours, that way an email will be sent out each day.

Finally, when you are writing campaigns you will want to have at least one email a day sent out, preferably two, spaced out every 12 hours. This will show your customers or clients that you have great content to share with them consistently.

Automated Broadcasts.

Once you have a welcome series and a campaign(s) you can also send out email broadcasts.

These types of emails are best used to give your customers or clients new information. Think of like a news broadcast, they are giving you information in real time right?

With an email broadcast you can write an email to your clients, customers or subscribers with hot off the press information, products or offers.

In addition to using them for new information, you can also use them to check-in on customers or clients and get them to re-engage with you.

You can schedule broadcasts to be sent later that day, week, or month. These are great for promotional items as well.

Let’s say you just created a new T-shirt design for you brand or company and you want your subscribed customers or clients to be the first to hear about it?

You can write an email sharing your great new product and then send it to your email list(s) via a broadcast and schedule when you want it to be sent out.

Email Automation Summary.

To summarize about email autoresponders I would like to hit on some key points for you.

First it would be best for you to start of with an email welcome series. One that lets your customers or clients know what your company/business are about and content of value to them.

Second, after you do that you can start writing your campaign(s). Remember these are a series of emails that should all follow a main theme and be relevant to each other.

They can also last for a few days, a week or month(s), so they give you a great way to share a lot of content to your email list(s).

Third you have the great tool of email broadcasts. Use these to send new information or products and offers! Or even to check-in on your customers or clients.
